Great for making a large batch and storing. Easy modifications make this recipe dog friendly as well!
Recipe from Carolynne and Dhru’s kitchen.
4 Quarts of Broth
Minimum 4 Hours
Ingredients:
4 Pounds Lamb Bones
5 Garlic Cloves, Skin left on
2 Onions cut in half, skin on
Garlic Cloves, Onions, and any additional spices is all to your preference.
If you are looking to make homemade bone broth for your dog, we advice not adding garlic, onion, or excessive salt!
Directions:
Preheat Oven to 45oF & Blanch Bones (meaning boil briefly to remove blood and other impurities from bone)
Bring bones to a strong boil for about 20 minutes.
Skim off the frothy top throughout the boiling and drain bones in colander and give them a quick rinse.
Roast Bones until almost overdone, deeply colored, but not burnt. Cook bones anywhere from 1-1.5 hours.
Add bones, onions, and garlic cloves to water in big stockpot. Use enough water to comfortably cover bones, but not too much as this will be your concentrate.
Simmer as long as possible (at least 1.5-2.5 hours, but ideally longer is better)
Drain broth and add ice to cool quickly. You can put the entire container in the fridge to finish cooling.
Once cooled off, portion off what will be frozen!
